1. Violence Erupts in Baltimore, State of Emergency Issued

A state of emergency was issued and National Guard troops were deployed in the streets of Baltimore after violence erupted in the city.

Numerous fires were reported overnight, and Baltimore police reported people throwing cinder blocks at fire engines as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.

A citywide curfew will be in effect from 10 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday. The 10 p.m. curfews will last for one week, mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said, and could be extended as necessary. A 9 p.m. curfew is already in effect for children 14 and under.

"This is not a lawless city," Rawlings-Blake said. "I'm at a loss for words."

2. Earthquake Death Toll Tops 4,400

Helicopters crisscrossed the skies above the high mountains of Gorkha district on Tuesday near the epicenter of the weekend earthquake in Nepal, ferrying the injured to clinics, and taking emergency supplies back to remote villages devastated by the disaster that killed more than 4,400 people across the region.

Around noon, two helicopters brought in eight women from Ranachour village, two of them clutching babies to their breast, and a third heavily pregnant.

"There are many more injured people in my village," said Sangita Shrestha, who was pregnant and visibly downcast as she got off the helicopter. She was quickly surrounded by Nepalese soldiers and policemen and ushered into a waiting van to be taken to a hospital.

3. Bruce Jenner's First Wife Chrystie Scott on When Former Olympian Said He Wanted to 'Be a Woman'

Even before Bruce Jenner became an Olympic champion, his first wife Chrystie Scott said, he told her early on during their marriage that he was struggling with being transgender and wanted to “be a woman.”

“It was such a shock to me, but he opened up his heart and confessed,” Scott said in an exclusive interview on “Good Morning America” Monday. “[He said] he had to share this deep, dark secret and he told me he always wanted to be a woman and, understandably, I was speechless. I didn’t really know what to say.”

4. Woman Paralyzed at Bachelorette Party Becomes a Mom Thanks to Surrogate

Rachelle Friedman Chapman was paralyzed when a bridesmaid playfully pushed her into a pool at her bachelorette party five years ago, causing irreversible damage to her spinal cord.

But today, thanks to a surrogate, she's a new mom. Kaylee Rae Chapman was born at 10:48 a.m. Sunday, weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces, Chapman told ABC News.

Even though Chapman knew the baby was on its way, because she wasn't the one who was pregnant, the birth was a bit of a shock, Chapman told ABC News, adding that she'd been up since 4 a.m. "Then, all of the sudden, boom. There's a baby."

5. 'Dancing With the Stars' Shocker

The odds weren’t in “Hunger Games” actress Willow Shields' favor Monday night. The 14-year-old actress was voted off ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” in an elimination that stunned the ballroom audience and judges.

Shields and actress Rumer Willis were both in jeopardy of going home tonight even though they’ve earned high judges’ score throughout the season. Elimination is based on a combination of judges’ scores and viewer votes.

Shields immediately teared up when her name was announced.

“We are all sad we are shocked,” said the show’s co-host, Erin Andrews.
