1. Shark ‘Came Out of the Water’ When It Bit Off Teen’s Arm, Witness Says

An eyewitness described the moment when the second shark attack took place off a North Carolina beach on Sunday, describing how the shark breached the water.

"He looked like he was waving at his friends," Randy Milligan said of the unidentified 16-year-old boy who was attacked. "Then the shark just came out of the water and like you snap your fingers -- bit his whole arm off."

Milligan told ABC News that the shark was large and was able to fit the majority of the boy's left arm in one bite.

2. NAACP Chapter President Rachel Dolezal Steps Down

NAACP chapter president Rachel Dolezal has stepped down amid accusations that she changed her appearance to appear as a different race.

Dolezal posted a letter on the Spokane NAACP Facebook page announcing she is leaving her position as president of the chapter.

"In the eye of this current storm, I can see that a separation of family and organizational outcomes is in the best interest of the NAACP," she said in the post.

3. Convict Richard Matt Painted Stunning Portraits of Celebrities

The paintings come alive inside John Mulligan's Syracuse, New York home.

Marilyn Monroe. Oprah Winfrey. Julia Roberts. Hillary Clinton. Martin Luther King, Jr. The artist of the pieces is Richard Matt, one of the men who escaped last week from a maximum-security prison in upstate New York.

According to a report by CNYCentral.com, Mulligan befriended Matt when the men were serving time together. Matt later sent Mulligan about 10 pieces, from celebrity pieces to a painting showing Mulligan’s deceased sister, her smile warm and bright.

“I’m sure for people who don’t know him, [the artwork is] exceptionally disturbing, but this is a piece of his life,” Mulligan told CNYCentral.com.

4. Coast Guard Rescues Endangered Turtle Caught in Line Off Long Island

An endangered turtle that found itself caught up in a fishing line off New York’s Long Island got some help from the Coast Guard.

A fishing vessel came across the entangled leatherback sea turtle around 1:30 p.m. Monday in Fort Pond Bay near Montauk, New York and notified Coast Guard Station Montauk, Coast Guard officials said.

5. Apple Watch Edition Worth $10,000 Gets Smashed by Magnets

Watch out.

One man got his hands on the $10,000 gold Apple Watch Edition and did the unthinkable -- obliterating the device by smashing it with two powerful magnets.
