1. Woman Breaks Window to Rescue Toddler Locked in Hot Car in Kansas

A woman in Kansas captured on camera the dramatic rescue of a toddler left in a locked car on a sweltering day.

Kristy Scales told ABC News that she had just come out of a store at a shopping center in Merriam, Kansas, after 4 p.m. Saturday, when she saw people running to a car, screaming for help. A baby was locked in the car alone.

"It was just scary," she said.

2. Sandra Bland's Death Probe Being Treated Like a Murder Investigation, DA Says

A local district attorney says that the probe into Sandra Bland's death after a traffic stop is being treated "like a murder investigation," despite preliminary information indicating that she committed suicide.

Bland was arrested July 10 after a traffic stop and died three days later in her cell, sparking questions about the manner of her death and outrage. An autopsy found that she died by asphyxiation and that she used a plastic trash bag to hang herself from a partition in her cell.

"This is being treated like a murder investigation," Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis said Monday evening. "I want fingerprints run. I want...DNA tests run on the trash bag."

3. What John McCain Went Through as a POW

Donald Trump sparked a new political controversy this past weekend when he questioned whether Sen. John McCain could be described as a "war hero," despite spending more than 5 years as a prisoner of war.

Trump's comment at the Family Leadership Council summit in Iowa on Saturday -- "I like people who weren't captured" -- sparked a swift rebuke, including from McCain himself, who broke his silence, calling on Trump to apologize to military families, especially those of POWs.

4. Police Probing Death in LA Find 1,200 Guns, 2 Tons Ammo

Police investigating the death of a Los Angeles man uncovered an arsenal inside his home and garage — more than 1,200 guns and about two tons of ammunition, authorities said Monday.

Los Angeles Police Department Cmdr. Andrew Smith called the number of rifles, pistols and shotguns staggering. Many had never been fired and some were still wrapped in boxes, with price tags still attached.

"Our truck couldn't carry it all," Smith told the Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/1HFAKVn). "We had to go back and make another trip."

5. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton to Divorce

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert announced that after four years of marriage, the couple has decided to divorce.

This comes as a surprise, with the couple often promoting each other on social media and thanking the other during award acceptance speeches.

But the country superstars said in a statement to the Associated Press, "It is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues."
