— -- From the ashes of Kathy Besk's burned down California home, a firefighter made a precious discovery today that brought her to tears.

Firefighters combing through the charred remains of her home found her wedding ring and the wedding ring of Besk's mother -- an heirloom that she had vowed to hand down to her own daughter when she gets married.

When the firefighter handed Besk the ring, she began to weep.

"We just found my wedding ring of 44 years -- in all of this mess," an emotional Besk said. "God answers prayers, incredibly. Oh my God."

"It caught my eye," the fighter said, noting, "I was even on my knees when I gave it to you."

"I do. I did -- 44 years ago," Besk said in response, referring to the fact that she accepted her husband Bill Besk's hand in marriage all those years ago.

Then the firefighters made another stunning discovery -- Besk's mother's wedding ring.

"That's it," she exclaimed, and then hugged her daughter. "And someday it's gonna be yours."

"She gave this to me for my birthday and said 'Make sure you give this to [your] daughter when she gets married someday," Besk recalled.

The rings were the only things she was able to salvage from her burned down house.

A dozen wildfires have been sweeping through California as it deals with historic drought conditions.
