Tennessee man charged with killing wife, wounding 2 sons

Police in Tennessee say a man was arrested on charges that he fatally shot his wife and wounded his two teenage sons

BELVIDERE, Tenn. -- A Tennessee man was arrested on charges that he fatally shot his wife and wounded his two teenage sons, police said.

Christopher Maxwell, 48, was arrested Saturday on first-degree murder, attempted murder and child abuse and neglect charges, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

The statement said deputies found the body of Holly Raquel Maxwell, 46, at her home near Belvidere. Two teenage boys who had been shot were taken to hospitals, and the statement said their conditions were stable.

According to an arrest affidavit, Maxwell was found in a barn and told officers that he believed his wife had been unfaithful, news outlets reported.

Christopher Maxwell was being held without bond in the Franklin County Jail. Jail records didn't indicate whether he has an attorney.

Belvidere is about 100 miles (161 kilometers) southeast of Nashville.
