April 28, 2010— -- Former first lady Laura Bush's new memoir, "Spoken form the Heart," isn't scheduled to be released in book stores until early May, but the New York Times has already obtained a copy and printed some details about the book in today's paper.

Bush opens up about moments in her husband's presidency, including criticism he faced following Hurricane Katrina and name-calling from his political opponents.

Perhaps most surprising, though, is the fact that Laura Bush discusses in detail for the first time the car crash she was involved in at age 17, which resulted in the death of one of her high school classmates.

According to the Times, she admits in the memoir to running a stop sign on her way to a drive-in movie and colliding with a car driven by Mike Douglas, a popular student at her school. The impact killed Douglas, and Bush wrote that guilt over the accident affected her for years.

Laura Bush kept a quiet profile during much of her husband's presidency, so we ask you today: Are you surprised that she is going public now with revelations about her past?
