Transcript for Boy, 8, consoles fellow student on first day of school
Finally tonight here, America strong. And two second grade boys with a lesson for us all. Two boys on their first day of second grade in Wichita, Kansas. Christian Moore, on the right, and Connor Krites, on the left. Just moments before this photo was taken, Christian reached out for Connor's hand. He sensed Connor was overwhelmed on the first day. It turns out 8-year-old Connor is autistic. He was nonverbal until he was 5. And his mother told us late today what that other little boy, Christian, saw. Christian saw him curled up in a corner and he was crying, so, all Christian did was go over and grab his hand. That simple act lit up his day, made him so happy. And that's all I can ask for is for someone to be open to him like that. Reporter: And the two mothers, side-by-side. Christian, who reached out his hand, his mother, proud of her son's lesson to us all. One act of kindness, you know, can change someone's life. Can change the world. That's all it takes. Reporter: Two boys beginning the second grade and beginning a new conversation about the powerle of something small, something kind. And here's what Connor's mother told us tonight. I'm so happy that something so positive is coming from this and my son got a friend and hopefully a friend for life. Connor and Christian. We loved it. I'm David Muir. I hope to see you right back here tomorrow.
