york, I traveled 70 feet below the earth in new york city today to the famous area rising again after the devastation of 9/11 and new york governor andrew cuomo gave me a tour today. Something happened last night at one of the most iconic locations in new york, the world trade center, ground zero. 70 feet below the reconstruction, a flood of water with the current so strong it flooded the entire tunnel, miles and miles from new york all the way to new jersey. Unprecedented. Reporter: Wow. Millions of gallons of water and goes all the way to hoboken. Reporter: New york governor andrew como was here in the middle of the night and back again today. How do you feel when you walk around and look at lights out in lower manhattan? Well, today it actually looks much, much better than it did last night. Last night to use a word it was frightening. The whole southern tip of manhattan was underwater. We could not have taken much more of the flow that we were getting last night. Reporter: So how soon before the power is back? Good question. We don't know. We have to pump out the tunnels so con ed can actually do the work they need on the electrical systems. We're talking a number of days i guess. Al gore has said, look, we have to face this. We are looking at things that haven't happened before. Is this the future? I think al gore is right. He happens to be a friend. I said kidding the other day we have a 100-year flood every two years now and I think at this point it is undeniable we have a frequency of these extreme weather situations and we're going to have to deal with it. Reporter: Less indelible image of the last 24 hours. I think it was probably last night when we were walking around here with flashlights in the dark with water coming from every direction. It was the magic of this site and what it stands for, this is a monument to new york resilience, we're going to build back and we're going to build back better and we did on this site and we will once again.
