Lexington county 911. I need to report a missing child. Reporter: 6-year-old Faye swetlik disappeared from her front yard, Monday afternoon. I can't find my daughter. She was playing outside. And I went to find her and I -- Reporter: The three-day search coming to a tragic end Thursday morning, when Faye was found dead. Authorities were following the garbage collection route throughout the neighborhood, methodically looking for clues. Investigators saying the break in the case came when they found an item belonging to Faye inside a neighbor's trash can. It was a critical piece of evidence that would have been listed on her missing persons flyer. Reporter: Minutes later, police finding little Faye's body in a wooded area, about 100 yards from her home in Cayce, South Carolina. We believe that Faye had not been in that location for a very long time. Reporter: Police identifying the neighbor as 30-year-old Coty Taylor, saying he was found dead inside his home shortly after police found Faye's body. Investigators did not say how they both died. Our evidence and our investigation does link these two together. I can confirm he was a neighbor. He was not a relative. He was not a friend. Reporter: Tonight, this town's pain on full display.
