TechBytes: Sony PlayStation Hacked

Personal data and credit card information compromised.

April 27, 2011— -- In today's TechBytes: Sony's PlayStation network is hacked. Sony is warning millions of customers that hackers stole personal information from its online network, including names, addresses and passwords. The company is also not ruling out the possibility that credit card data was stolen. The breach has forced Sony to shut down its PlayStation network for the past week.

YouTube Movie Rentals

YouTube is about to get more serious about the movie business. The site is reportedly expanding its rental service to include more and newer movies, which will be available around the same time they come out on DVD. YouTube has offered a limited number of rentals since last year.

Smartphone Over-Dependence?

And evidence this morning some of us are a little too attached to our smartphones. A survey commissioned by Google finds 39 percent of users admit to using their smartphones in the bathroom. 20 percent of those surveyed said they'd give up cable TV to keep using their smartphone.
