Suspect in San Antonio Cop's Death Got Married Shortly After Shooting, Documents Show

A marriage certificate shows that 31-year-old Otis Tyrone McCain wed on Monday.

— -- The Texas man accused in the death of a San Antonio police detective got married the day after the shooting took place amid a manhunt for him, a marriage certificate shows.

McManus said investigators believe McKane is the person "responsible for the cold and calculated murder of Det. Marconi." He has not yet been formally charged.

A marriage license dated on Monday shows that McKane got married sometime after the shooting and before he was arrested around 4:30 p.m. local time Monday. The license, filed in the County of Bexar County, indicates that McKane married someone named Christian Chanel Fields.

A SWAT team arrested McKane Monday on Interstate 10, where he was a passenger in a car driven by a woman, McManus said. A 2-year-old was also in the car at the time McKane's arrest.

As McKane was being led into the Bexar County Jail by police late Monday, he told reporters that he was upset after losing a custody battle and "lashed out at somebody who didn't deserve it," The Associated Press reported. The suspect said he would like to apologize to Marconi's family.

It was not immediately clear if McKane had obtained an attorney.
