Justin Bieber Appears Angry, Sullen, Defiant in Video Deposition

ABC News' Suzan Clarke reports:

Video of a deposition of pop star Justin Bieber in connection with a lawsuit against the troubled singer and a bodyguard shows Bieber appearing sullen and defiant.

The video obtained by ABC News shows the 20-year-old "Baby" singer becoming visibly upset and repeatedly refusing to give a direct answer to questions posed by the lawyer for photographer Jeffrey Binion.

Binion, 56, has alleged in the lawsuit that Bieber ordered his bodyguard to "forcibly" take Binion's memory card after the lensman snapped a picture of Bieber outside a Miami recording studio.

A Look at Justin Bieber's Past Troubles

During the hours-long deposition in Miami on Thursday, the plaintiff's attorney asked Bieber whether he remembered ever being in Australia.

"I don't know if I've been to Australia," he replied, then asked his attorney: "Have I been to Australia?"

At one point, Bieber told the Binion's attorney: "I don't have to listen to anything you have to say."

In response to another question, a perplexed-looking Bieber replied: "What kind of a question is that? That didn't make sense."

At one point, he seemed to take on the role of attorney, saying "I object," to one of the questions.

Bieber's own attorney challenged the plaintiff's lawyer several times on the relevance and tone of his line of questioning, and accused him of trying to harass Bieber.

When the plaintiff's lawyer asked Bieber when the star ever discussed his feelings about paparazzi with singer Selena Gomez, Bieber grew visibly upset. Bieber and Gomez were a couple, and have had an on-again, off-again relationship.

Bieber shook his head, covered his eyes with his hand, exhaled, then said: "Don't ask me about her again." He repeated the admonition while wagging a finger.

Binion's attorney also asked Bieber about his mentor, R&B star Usher.

"Isn't it true that Usher was instrumental in starting your career?" the attorney asked.

"Um, I guess, yes," Bieber replied, adding: "I was found on YouTube. I think that I was detrimental to my own career."

When the attorney asks him to repeat his answer, Bieber's attorney quickly interjects: "He said 'I think I was instrumental to my own career.'"

After the plaintiff's attorney asks several other questions about the singer's relationship with Usher, Bieber says: "Is this an interview or a deposition? I'm confused."

Bieber also referred to his interrogator as "Katie Couric," and even winked at the camera during the proceedings.

Bieber's reps wouldn't comment on the tapes, which are the latest in a string of incidents that have landed him in the headlines.

Most recently, Bieber has been charged for alleged DUI in Miami. He also faces an alleged assault charge in Toronto, and Los Angeles police executed a search warrant on his home in connection with a felony vandalism investigation.

Representatives for Bieber would not comment on the deposition video when reached by ABC News.
