Opening Ceremony Fail? Just Four Rings Light Up in Iconic Symbol

A lighting effect appeared to malfunction at the start of the Olympics' Opening Ceremonies today, ending a dramatic set piece with a dud.

Floating above the heads of spectators at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi, Russia, five electric snowflakes appeared to bloom into the games' iconic rings, until one didn't.

The flake in the upper right corner failed to open, leaving the symbol looking incomplete.
