Mar. 4, 2011— -- Following the announcement of Kate Middleton and Prince William's engagement, the fashion world began to speculate what the bride would wear for the royal wedding. It has been revealed to the Huffington Post that the future princess will walk down the aisle at Westminster Abbey in slipper-like flats, "covered in multiple layers of silk, and heavily embroidered."

After the ceremony there will be a lunch reception at Buckingham Palace, a balcony appearance, and an official wedding shoot, which will be followed by an evening of dinner and dancing. It is likely that there will be at least one dress (and shoe) change as the day progresses.

Some of the world's most famous shoe designers sketched what they envision on Miss Middleton's feet for the royal wedding, but none featured a pair of flats. There is still a possibility that the future queen may wear some ultra-high stilettos since she commissioned four pairs of shoes, with various heel heights, for her big day.
