Did Steve King Compare Immigrants to Dogs? You Decide [VIDEO]
Watch King's original comments and judge for yourself
July 24, 2013— -- During an interview with Univision's Jorge Ramos last week, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) denied ever comparing immigrants to dogs.
Ramos confronted King over comments he made in 2012, when he said that America's selection of immigrants is similar to the process of picking "a good bird dog." King said he never made a negative comparison, saying he intended to praise legal immigration.
"I would challenge you to run the whole video on Univision," King said in the interview, which aired Sunday. "Run the whole video. Listen to the whole speech. Get a sense of what I was talking about rather than what the left-wing blogs are doing. They are trying to divide us instead of let us be unified as one people in this country."
We're following King's advice. Here is a video of Ramos' confrontation of King followed by the Iowa congressman's original comments. You be the judge: were King's comments offensive? Or meant to praise immigrants?
