Miguel Ferrer Promoted to VP, Digital for Fusion

Today interim Fusion president Beau Ferrari announced Miguel Ferrer has been promoted from Executive Producer, Digital to Vice President, Digital for Fusion.

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to share exciting news about our on air team. Derrick Ashong is joining Fusion as an anchor. He’ll cover politics, cultural events, the big headlines of the day and the entertainment and social media trends that matter most to young Hispanics and millennials. He’ll be based in Miami and start May 1.

A gregarious storyteller with a passion for technology, Derrick is truly a new media pioneer and gifted content creator.

He anchored “The Derrick Ashong Experience” on SIRIUS XM’s Oprah Radio and the Emmy-nominated “The Stream” on Al Jazeera English.

Derrick has interviewed a wide range of well-known public figures, from John Legend, Jimmi Cliff and supermodel Alex Wek to Jane Goodall, David Axelrod, Governor Jeb Bush and former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Anan.

Derrick is also the leader of the critically-acclaimed Afropolitan band Soulfege, winning Billboard Songwriting Contest for Best Hip Hop Song in 2008.

Born in Ghana and educated at Harvard, Derrick was raised in Brooklyn, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and New Jersey. We are delighted he’s now part of Fusion.

Please join me in welcoming Derrick to the team.

Best regards,
