Wall St. Madam Says She'll Face Off Against Spitzer if He Runs for Office

Sept. 8, 2009— -- If ex-New York Governor Eliot Spitzer throws his hat back into the political ring, which recent reports say he is considering, the Wall St. madam who ran one of New York's biggest and most expensive escort services says she'll enter the race as well.

"I would make sure everyone remembers how Spitzer violated the public trust and at the same time I would push a REFORM agenda," Kristin Davis writes on her blog.

Davis, who pleaded guilty last year to running a prostitution business and served four months on Rikers Island, says she would legalize, regulate and tax both prostitution and marijuana so that "New York could balance our budget without raising taxes or cutting essential services."

She told ABCNews.com that she'd run because she thinks Spitzer is unfit for politics.

"The quick and dirty is that he really is a hypocrite," Davis said. "My problem is not that he used an escort agency…my problem is his abuse of power. You put this man back into any position of power, how do we know he's not going to abuse it again?"

Spitzer has been rumored to be considering running for New York state comptroller or the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Kirsten Gillibrand, sources told the New York Post. He told the NY Daily News last week that he has "no plans to run for office."

Spitzer is currently teaching a political science class at the City College of New York.
