— -- Busy Philipps may want more children, but she doesn't want to tell you. In fact, she thinks that no one should ask a woman if they want kids.

"Well, I'm a feminist so I probably would stray away from those questions," the mother of two told ABC News.

"It's a question that I think is really interesting," Philipps continued. "Just because people want to know certain things, does it mean you have to ask it?

"I don’t know either," she said, answering her own thought. "I’m not a journalist. I’m glad."

Philipps, 37, and her husband Marc Silverstein are parents to two daughters, 7-year-old Birdie Leigh and 3-year-old Cricket Pearl.

The star of HBO's new series "Vice Principals," which premieres Sunday, added that she understands why people (read: journalists) are curious about her desires to expand her family, especially since she's been in similar situations.

"Sometimes you have no choice. Sometimes you gotta like suck it up and do what you don’t want to do for your job, right?" she said.

"It’s hard ... being an actor for hire," Philipps continued. "Sometimes you’re given scripts and things on TV shows where I don’t necessarily agree with these lines or what this is putting into the universe and [I ask,] 'How do I deal with that?' And [ask], 'Do you have agency?' A lot of times you don’t! 'Can you make a call?' Sometimes you can."

Philipps added for clarification that personally she's never been in "a terrible situation where I felt compromised in my personal beliefs."

Although she won't talk future children, the actress did admit that she's expanding her family.

"My older daughter has been asking for a cat, and I was like, ‘You got a sister instead!'" Philipps quipped. "But I think for her 8th birthday, which is in August, she’s going to get a [cat]."

It's perfect timing for the new partner of Purina Cat Chow, whose new program "Nutrition to Build Better Lives" is giving one meal, up to five million meals, to non-profit Rescue Bank for every bag of Purina Cat Chow purchased until July 30.

Philipps said her family plans to rescue a cat instead of purchasing one from a breeder.

"There are so many cats that are waiting for homes in shelters..." she explained. "We’re going to get one of those cats. So we’re going to try to find probably a younger cat."

The actress warned that her daughter shouldn't get her hopes up for a kitten.

"Kittens are kind of tough," she said. "It’s like having a newborn."
