Enrique Iglesias Continues Concert After Slicing Hand on Drone
The accident happened in front of 12,000 fans.
— -- Singer Enrique Iglesias is recovering after his fingers were sliced when he grabbed a drone during a concert in Tijuana, Mexico.
The accident happened Saturday, when Iglesias was performing in front of 12,000 fans.
Things appeared to be going fine: Iglesias was in the middle of singing his hit “Escape.” Video from a fan in the crowd captured the frightening moment when his hand got caught in the drone’s sharp rotating blade.
“During the show a drone is used to get crowd shots and some nights Enrique grabs the drone to give the audience a Point of View shot,” a representative for the singer said in a statement. “Something went wrong and he had an accident.”
The Spanish singer-songwriter, 40, was “semi-treated” on the side of the stage Saturday to stop the bleeding, according to the statement.
“Do I have blood everywhere?” he could be seen asking in video captured backstage. “I feel numb,” he said.
Iglesias was advised to end the show but went on to perform for an additional 30 minutes.
After the show, he was met at the airport by an ambulance, and he was later flown to Los Angeles to see a specialist, according to the statement.
The performance was part of Iglesias’ Sex and Love World Tour. His next show is in July in Mexico City, according to his website.
