George Clooney Is Engaged to Amal Alamuddin

Hollywood's most eligible bachelor, George Clooney, is engaged, ABC News has confirmed.

The Oscar-winning actor, 52, is set to wed lawyer Amal Alamuddin, 36.

Clooney's rep declined to comment.

George Clooney's Past Loves

Though George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin have yet to discuss reports that the couple has become engaged, the talk around the lawyer's office in the U.K. is celebrating the couple.

Doughty Street Chambers, the law firm that Alamuddin works for, sent around a message of congratulations.

"The barristers and staff of Doughty Street Chambers offer their best wishes and congratulations to Ms. Amal Alamuddin, a member of Chambers, and Mr. George Clooney on their engagement to be married," it read.

The message, sent out by executive officer Furhana Mallick, added, "Amal was recruited by Chambers in 2010 on an exceptional pupillage to complete her training as a barrister in England and then became a full member of Chambers, joining our renowned international law team. Amal has had to date an outstanding and varied legal practice."

A co-worker, in the email, said Alamuddin, "is respected and admired by all her colleagues," and another said the co-workers are "delighted at her happy news."

Clooney was married one time before to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993.
