Hugh Jackman doesn't just play a superhero on the big screen -- he saves people off screen, too.

"The Wolverine" actor helped his teenage son and other beachgoers who were caught in a riptide while on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, on Saturday.

Video posted by 9 News Australia shows Jackman appearing to grab one man as he held on to a girl.

The actor then motioned to his son Oscar, 15, who was playing in the water as Jackman battled forceful waves crashing to shore.

"Hugh and Oscar are completely fine," a rep for the actor said in a statement. "It looks more dramatic than it was."

Jackman was in his native Australia to promote his latest film, "Eddie the Eagle."
