— -- When Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston went on their honeymoon back in August, the actor revealed he thought he wouldn't return home.

The "Leftovers" star said on Friday's "Live with Kelly and Michael" that his oxygen tank nearly ran out while scuba diving in Bora Bora. After having an enjoyable experience the first time he tried the water sport on the French Polynesian island, Theroux said he went back with friends, but unfortunately for him, this time he was paired with an instructor who spoke little English.

"There was no communicating. We could not talk," Theroux said. "I was telling him, 'I've only done this once.'"

Still, Theroux and his friends went "really deep" into the water, and the actor noticed that his oxygen tank was "on red basically."

"I'm trying to enjoy the manta rays and the this and the that, but I'm distracted because I want some oxygen" he quipped.

Theroux said that when he told the instructor what was happening, the instructor reached for his oxygen mask, but that only frightened him. "I'm like, 'No, no, no. I just want to go up,'" he recalled.

Theroux said that the instructor finally gave him an emergency respirator linked to a fresh oxygen tank, but when the instructor replaced it underwater, it "sent water down my throat." He added, "And now I'm coughing and hacking underwater, which is not a great feeling."

Eventually, Theroux and his friends, who were all on what the actor described as a "big party honeymoon," made it back above water and to safety. But Theroux was definitely a little upset while still trapped undersea. "I'm just looking at him mask to mask and I'm just like 'I'm gonna murder this guy,'" he said jokingly.
