The Kardashians' Long, Hot Summer -- From Kim's Wedding Prenup to Khloe's Latest TV Tease
Kim Kardashian is busy planning her wedding to NBA player Kris Humphries.
June 13, 2011 -- Keeping up with the Kardashians has never been easier. From Kim Kardashian's latest legal battles to sister Khloe's recent racy television tease to Kourtney's new role of domestic diva (all within days of the sixth season premiere of their hit show, "Keeping up With the Kardashians"), the reality stars have been busy.
The biggest news to have emerged from the trio of celebrity sisters has been middle sister Kim's surprise engagement to NBA up-and-comer Kris Humphries. Engaged after a whirlwind six-month courtship, 30-year-old Kim seems to have thrown herself fully into the wedding plans, prompting younger sister, Khloe, to share with People magazine, "I don't want to help because Kim is going to be such a bridezilla! If I do one thing wrong, I'll be screwed!"
Despite the affection between Kim and beau Humphries that was very much on display on last night's episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" (Entertainment Weekly described a scene in which the two burp into each other's mouths as if it were "a bullfrog mating session") reports surfaced suggesting that Humphries might have to worry about Kim's fidelity. In Touch Weekly published a report about Kim having had a steamy affair with NFL star Bret Lockett during her romance with Humphries.
Kim took to her blog last week to defend herself, writing that the magazine "decided to run a false story, knowing they had absolutely no proof that it was real. It's disgusting, and I will be taking legal action against InTouch magazine and Bret Lockett."
Although Lockett continues to say that he and Kim had a "sexting" relationship over the course of several months, Lockett went on "Showbiz Tonight" Friday and confessed that he had never actually met the star. Even so, Ericka Souter, a staff writer at US Weekly, said that "the newly engaged Kim is very upset -- this is the ultimate game of he said/she said" and "Kim is sticking to her story as she has no idea who Lockett is. Added Souter, "Their mom, Kris, has done a great job at creating their image, and their mom wants Kim to be the perfect bride-to-be, not someone who would do this type of thing."
Dresses, flowers, dinner menus and Kim's 20.5 carat diamond engagement ring aside, there seems to be an additional issue that Kim has tackled head-on: arranging the terms of her prenuptial agreement. Kim is serious about protecting her significant assets, reported US Weekly.
"Her mom, Kris Jenner, drew up the contracts," a source told the magazine. "Kim's Beverly Hills home and all of her assets are protected."
No small feat, considering that Forbes magazine estimated that the reality star made $12 million in the past year from endorsements, appearance fees, television shows and product lines. In contrast, groom-to-be Humphries reportedly earns $3.2 million a year as a Nets forward, and as the source confided to US Weekly, "He does not receive anything if the marriage fails. He agreed to that. He's not worried."
Despite the swirl of press surrounding Kim, her sisters have stayed in the spotlight too. Oldest sister Kourtney, 32, has recently spent much of her time on the road promoting the upcoming season of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and working on projects involving the small empire of Dash boutiques that the three sisters manage in Calabasas, Calif., and Miami.
