Kelsey Grammer vs. Camille Donatacci and 10 More Nasty Hollywood Divorces
Kelsey Grammer's soon-to-be ex-wife may get $50 million in divorce.
Dec. 29, 2010 — -- It's a drama that would drain even Frasier Crane.
"Frasier" star Kelsey Grammer is embroiled in a tug-of-war of a divorce with his wife, "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" cast member Camille Donatacci. While he reportedly wants to speed up the split so that he can marry his latest paramour, former flight attendant Kayte Walsh, the law is not making it easy.
According to TMZ.com, Grammer, 55, is seeking "bifurcation," which means a judge would officially end his marriage to Donatacci, 47, even though the terms of the divorce, such as financial agreements, haven't been decided. With bifurcation, Grammer could become a single man ready to tie the knot again as early as Jan. 1, 2011 -- six months after Donatacci filed a divorce petition.
While Grammer and Donatacci's marriage could be over in matter of days, the couple's financial drama will likely play out well into the new year. TMZ.com reports that the two never signed a prenup, and that during their 13 years as husband and wife, they built up a fortune of more than $100,000,000 in real estate, his earnings from "Frasier" and the proceeds from their company, Grammernet Productions. If no prenup exists, Donatacci is entitled to half of that fortune -- $50 million.
Perhaps Grammer will tred more carefully as he steps into his next marriage -- his fourth. Grammer announced his engagement to Walsh, 29, Dec. 6. In August, the couple announced they were expecting a baby, but two months later revealed that Walsh had miscarried.
Of course, Grammer's not the only celebrity to deal with divorce woes. Below, check out 10 other noteworthy divorces and the salvos that make them infamous.
1. Jon Gosselin vs. Kate Gosselin
Only recently do the Gosselins seem to have declared detente -- relatively, anyway. After the couple, made famous (and then infamous) by TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8," split up in 2009, she cried about the mess their family had become, and he accused her of exploiting their kids. When she signed on to "Dancing With the Stars," his lawyer called Kate "an absentee mom;" her lawyer shot back, "he's out of the limelight, while 23 million people are watching Kate on 'Dancing with the Stars.'"
Kate Gosselin's since moved on to new TLC shows and specials, one of which recently sent her and her brood to Alaska to camp with none other than Sarah Palin. Jon Gosselin, meanwhile, is settling into a new relationship with his latest gal pal, Ellen Ross.
2. Michael Douglas vs. Diandra Douglas
Despite the fact that Michael Douglas has been married to Catherine Zeta-Jones for a decade, his ex-wife, Diandra Luker-Douglas, still dogs his life. Prior to the release of his latest major movie, "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps," Luker filed papers in New York court claiming she was entitled to 50 percent of her ex's upfront salary and royalties from the film.
She is believed to have banked $45 million from their 2000 divorce, which, according to her lawyers, stipulates that she gets half of any money Douglas earns from films he made during their 20-year-long marriage. They claim that includes any spinoffs of past movies and argue that "Money Never Sleeps" qualifies, since it's based on 1987's "Wall Street."
But in November, Luker's papers were thrown out of court by a judge who ruled that because she and Douglas divorced in California, her action should be carried out there, not in New York. Following the ruling, Douglas' attorney Marilyn Chinitz declared, "He's thrilled. This is the right decision. This action should have never been brought in the first place."
