April 10, 2014 -- Lupita Nyong'o looks gorgeous on the cover of Marie Claire's May issue, but she doesn't want to be known just for her looks.

"Being called gorgeous is not a bad thing!" she told the magazine. "But at the same time, I don't want to thrive on people's opinions of me."

That said, opinions are still high of the recent Oscar winner. Though the Mexican-born, Kenyan-raised actress racked up quite a few awards this past season, she said waiting for her category to be called was excruciating.

What's Next for Lupita Nyong'o?

"I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy," Nyong'o told Marie Claire. "It's not even about the outcome; it's about the agony of the unknown. It's like waiting for test results in a hospital."

Still, there's no doubt Nyong'o is coming off an amazing year.

"It was phenomenal," she said in the interview. "As brilliant as it was, onward ho. I hope that I will get to work soon. In due time, what I should do next and what I want to do next will reveal themselves."

She added, "I am not in the business of trying to top this year – that's virtually impossible. I'd have to be pronounced the queen of England or something."

Nyong'o is one of five young actresses gracing the cover of the magazine's "Fresh Faces" in Hollywood issue, which appears on newsstands April 22.
