— -- It wasn't just the ladies who impressed at the Oscars.

The men showed off some beauty looks as well, many of them testing "guy-liner" and "manscara" as part of a new trend.

"I'm very familiar with the trend 'manscara'," says Chris Lanston, a celebrity makeup artist who's worked with James Van Der Beek and Robin Thicke. "As far as men goes I think that they're stepping out of the box and are becoming more aware of their beauty."

From the looks of it, big names are following behind "manscara" fans like Adam Lamberg and last year's Oscar winner Jared Leto.

"Jared Leto is a pioneer for men makeup," Lanston says. "He wears it with confidence and he looks great."

Lanston says he's used mascara on male celebs in the past to open up their eyes and accentuate their lash line.

"They might not want to mention that they have it on, but id say about 75 percent have some type of product on their eyes," he says. "I'm into balancing the two looks of masculine and feminine,. I think you're going to see a lot more of it in the future."

In contributing to the "manscara" trend, Lanston says he's developing a makeup line for men, which he hopes to launch later this year.
