— -- Naomi Watts has finally opened up about her life since splitting with her longtime partner, Liev Schreiber.

The two actors split back in September after 11 years and two sons.

"I feel I'm in a good place in my life and I want to make sure my kids are healthy, my kids are happy and things are going to go well. Those are my hopes for me and for all of us," Watts told The Daily Telegraph Australia.

"I feel, whether you're famous or not, transitions are scary for anybody," she continued. "I feel like change is always scary, but that's only because transition for anyone is new and you wonder how things are going to go."

When the actors confirmed their split to ABC News in September the two said in a joint statement, "Over the past few months we've come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple."

"It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship," the statement continued. "While we appreciate your curiosity and support, we ask the press to be mindful of our children and respect their right to privacy."

Right now, Watts, 48, is trying to figure out how her family will celebrate the Christmas holiday.

"I obviously want to get back to Australia, but I'm currently working on a TV show, 'Gypsy,' and I've only got a limited amount of time off," she revealed.

Watts and Schreiber, 49, first connected at the 2005 Met Gala. The two share two sons, Alexander, 9, and Samuel, 7.
