— -- The winners were announced at the 88th Academy Awards in Hollywood Sunday, with Chris Rock serving as host.

Although Leonardo DiCaprio's "The Revenant" led overall with 12 nominations, the Charlize Theron-led action film, "Mad Max: Fury Road" cleaned up in many of the technical categories.

Still, the most coveted award for Best Picture went to "Spotlight," a film centered on the Boston Globe's investigation into the Catholic church sex scandal.

Leonardo DiCaprio also had a memorable night, winning his first Oscar after five nominations.
