Selena Gomez Gushes Over Amy Schumer at Awards Ceremony
Singer presented an award to her new gal pal Amy Schumer.
— -- Watch out Jennifer Lawrence -- Amy Schumer has a new celebrity fan: Selena Gomez.
The 23-year-old singer presented the "Trainwreck" star, 34, with the Hollywood Comedy Award at the 19th Annual Hollywood Film Awards in Beverly Hills on Sunday, calling Schumer the first comedian to "speak to the women of my generation."
"I talk about her obsessively," Gomez said in her introduction, according to E! News. "I’ve tweeted her often. I try to impersonate her and it doesn’t really work."
Gomez added, "Amy, you’ve inspired me not to take myself too seriously when I sit on my couch and I’m depressed about certain things. You constantly made me feel I’m a badass even though most of the time I’m not. You say the things I wish I could say and you never ever make me feel bad about anything I do in my personal life."
The "Good for You" singer even joked about being happy that Schumer's new friend Jennifer Lawrence wasn't there to present the award.
Taking the stage, Schumer assured Gomez, "I didn’t even ask Jen. Selena, you were my first choice."
Later the new pals took a snap together from backstage.
