— -- Erik Bauersfeld, the voice behind Admiral Ackbar in "Return of the Jedi" and "The Force Awakens," has died at the age of 93.

The Brooklyn, New York native and voice actor was born in 1922. "Return of the Jedi" was his first credit, according to IMDB. He later did some voice work in 2001's "A.I. Artificial Intelligence" and, this past year, he returned to the "Star Wars" franchise in "The Force Awakens."

A message posted on his agent Derek Maki's official website reads "A true friend who touched our lives. You will be deeply missed!"

Bauersfeld's Ackbar will always be remembered for helping to lead the Rebels in an attack against the second Death Star and his classic line, "It's a Trap!" when it seemed the Emperor had outsmarted Luke and his comrades.

He also voiced Bib Fortuna, one of Jabba the Hutt's men, in the very same "Return of the Jedi."
