Tom Cruise Sues Gay Porn Actor for Slander
L O S A N G E L E S, May 3 -- Tom Cruise filed a $100 million defamation lawsuit Wednesday against a porno actor who allegedly claimed his gay affair broke up the superstar's marriage.
Chad Slater told the French magazine Actustar that "he had acontinuing homosexual relationship during Cruise's marriage andthat the relationship was discovered by Cruise's wife, who endedthe relationship," according to the suit filed in Los AngelesSuperior Court. The article was translated and appeared in a Spanish-languagemagazine, the lawsuit contends. "Cruise is not and never has been a homosexual" and "does noteven know" Slater, the suit said. Cruise's attorney, Bert Fields, said Actustar has agreed topublish a retraction.

Slater uses the stage name Kyle Bradford and has made a seriesof porn films and graphic, gay-themed wrestling videos. His Website was unavailable on Wednesday night, listing "uncontrolablecircumstances" (sic). There was no telephone listing for either name in the Hollywoodarea. Cruise filed for divorce from Nicole Kidman in February after 10years of marriage. They have two adopted children, 6-year-oldConnor and 8-year-old Isabella. The divorce case is pending, but Cruise's divorce lawyer, DennisWasser, issued a statement Wednesday that "the children are hislife and he will always provide for them and their security. Tomwill provide Nicole with one-half of the community property,consisting of tens of millions of dollars." "Tom said to me 'She's the mother of our children and I willalways wish her well,"' Wasser said.
