May 1 -- He's conquered Hollywood. Now Oscar winner James Cameron wants to take on the final frontier.

The Titanic director and self-proclaimed King of the World is angling to follow in the footsteps of millionaire tourist Dennis Tito and hitch a ride on the Russian Soyuz rocket to the International Space Station. Although for Cameron, this would not be a luxury vacation.

He tells The New York Post he would film the journey to share the experience with the masses. Cameron plans a series of documentaries and a 3-D Imax movie.

Cameron says NASA and the Russian Space Agency are working out guidelines for his mission.

Tea Time for Jerry Springer

You might associate Jerry Springer more with family disputes than government debates, but the talk-show host is considering a stint in political commentary.

Britain's Channel Five is negotiating with Springer to appear as a guest expert during its general election coverage, and expects he will help with the ratings.

"[He's] a very well-known name," said a representative for the network.

And maybe he's not such an unusual choice. After all, Springer was born in London, and he was elected mayor of Cincinnati in 1977, so he presumably knows a thing or two about politics. He even has experience with political scandal, having been busted for solicitation, a charge bolstered by Springer's personal check to the hooker.

Doherty Pleads No Contest

Charmed star Shannen Doherty may need her witch's powers to avoid some jail time.

The 30-year-old actress pleaded no contest to drunken driving charges today in a Ventura, Calif., courtroom. She was arrested in December when police spotted her car weaving on a highway.

Sentencing is set for June 12 and she faces up to six months in jail. However, Deputy District Attorney Ian Morse tells The Associated Press that as a first-time offender, the actress will more likely serve 48 hours in jail or spend five days in a work-release program.
