Cruise Cool to News of Kidman's Miscarriage
April 5 -- When Tom Cruise heard about the miscarriage of his estranged wife, Nicole Kidman, the superstar took the news "coolly," according to People magazine.
Public sympathy is on Kidman's side, following news of her shock at the split and the miscarriage that she had after the separation, but tabloids are suggesting that the Australian actress may have strayed near the end of her 10-year marriage.
Although Cruise's and Kidman's representatives both declined to comment, friends of the couple tell People that there's no doubt that the baby was indeed Cruise's.
"Oh, God, yes! No shadow of a doubt [that Tom was the father]," a friend of Nicole's tells People.
While the split has reportedly come as a complete surprise to Kidman, People reports that Cruise privately told a friend on the set of Minority Report, "Nic knows exactly why we are getting a divorce. But she's the mother of our children, and I wish her well."
Cruise and Kidman have two adopted children: Isabella, 8, and Conor, 6. Their children's welfare is reportedly the one topic that the estranged couple does discuss, but only over the phone.
