'N Sync to Release Celebrity in June
April 3 -- Though it seems like just yesterday they were singing "Bye, Bye, Bye," the boys of 'N Sync will be back again June 26, with a new album in stores.
The boy band's fourth LP will be titled Celebrity — appropriately enough, as the quintet has rocketed to superstar status over the past year and a half.
Last year's No Strings Attached broke sales records when it sold 2.4 million copies in its first week on the rack. Big record stores will be eager to bring in boxes of Celebrity, though whether the band can break its own record will be a test of the resilience of teen pop — or even the economy.
The album's success will also, no doubt, depend on the first single, said to be an up-tempo track due to hit radio in late April.
The band has said that the album — which includes such songs as the title track, "Dirty Pop," "Game Over," and "Gone" — is eclectic in feel. The band branched out in its production team, this time working with R&B and hip-hop producers the Neptunes.
If radio play doesn't add enough hype, the boys aim to drive fans into a frenzy in advance of the release with the Pop Odyssey tour, which kicks off May 12 in Miami, with television-created pop group Eden's Crush — the first female group to debut at No. 1 on the pop charts, with its debut single, "Get Over Yourself" — as the opening act.
