March 28 -- Rap star Juvenile was arrested early this morning after allegedly smashing a champagne bottle over a man's head in a skirmish outside a Miami comedy club.

He was charged with aggravated battery with a bottle, battery on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest without violence, according to The Associated Press, before being released on $17,000 bond.

Police told the news service that fights broke out as audience members left the Improv Comedy Club shortly after midnight, and that Juvenile, whose real name is Terius Gray, hit Jackson Saint Ange on the head with a bottle of champagne. Ange, who was knocked unconscious, was treated and released at a nearby hospital, the AP reported.

"As we were told, [Ange] dissed him," Miami police spokesman Delrish Moss told the AP. "The entire fight was about disrespect shown to the rap artist."

Moss explained that Juvenile approached police officers after they arrived.

"The rap artist walks over to one of our police officers, grabs him and starts yelling obscenities at him, insisting he be taken to jail rather than the person we were in the process of arresting," Moss told the news service, adding that he then crossed the street and continued shouting obscenities before he was arrested.

Juvenile, who has scored major hits with "Ha" and "Back That Thang Up," most recently released Playaz of da Game in September.
