March 15, 2007— -- David Beckham is about to become the new prince of Bel Air.

According to ExtraTV, David Beckham and his wife, Victoria, formerly "Posh" Spice of the Spice Girls, have put an offer on a Bel Air mansion that once belonged to actress Meg Ryan.

The soccer superstar and his fashionable wife have been searching for a home for their family of five in Los Angeles since the Galaxy soccer team signed Beckham to a five-year, $250 million contract.

Insiders are buzzing that Victoria Beckham has her heart set on Ryan's old home, which boasts seven bedrooms, six baths, ocean views, a game room, a private gym and sauna, a swimming pool and a backyard garden. Ryan bought the home in 2000 for $8 million. The 6,900-square-foot property was built in 1931.

Bel Air real estate agent Joel Cunningham told ExtraTV, "Mrs. Beckham was very impressed with the property overall, especially the ocean views which can be enjoyed from the bedroom."

Cunningham also revealed that Posh was impressed with the security on the property, which will help keep the paparazzi away.

"In addition to the large eight-foot-high security fence surrounding the property, there is also a front wall and gates that are even higher than the massive fence, at a massive 11 feet," Cunningham told ExtraTV.

Extra's report says Beckham and his wife are expected to hear whether or not their offer has been accepted before the end of the week.
