Vanessa Williams Reveals Plans for New Album
The singer hopes to have it out by the first of the year.
— -- Vanessa Williams is returning to her musical roots.
The former Miss America -- who’s also a Grammy Award-nominated, chart-topping chanteuse and a Tony Award-nominated Broadway star -- has plans for a new album.
Williams told ABC News that she hopes to have it out by "the first of the year.
“I'm going to be doing a new album about the Broadway music that influenced me while I was becoming a young woman and things that I performed over the years," she said. "So we're working out the deal now!"
But other projects are coming first. Williams, 52, who recently appeared on an episode of "Broad City," is debuting a new clothing line, V by Vanessa Williams, which will be sold on the Evine home shopping network beginning this weekend. Each item is $100 or less, and consumers will have 18 pieces from which to choose.
“I'm excited. It's a combination of everything from pencil skirts to blouses to knit wear to dresses, maxi dresses, short dresses. Anything you'd need from the transition from office to cocktail or casual afternoon," she explained. “It's a nice combination of things that I think the modern woman can wear.
