Feb. 11, 2013 — -- intro: From the rumor mill to a reality show, it has been a busy year for Whitney Houston's family since her tragic death last February.

Houston drowned in a hotel bathtub on Feb. 11, 2012, in Beverly Hills, Calif. Authorities said her death was complicated by cocaine use and heart disease.

In a Grammy special aired Saturday, producers for last year's awards recalled last minute changes to scripts and calling in Jennifer Hudson to honor Houston at the show. Host LL Cool J was the one to suggest opening the show with a prayer for Houston.

Last week, Madame Tussauds unveiled four different wax figures of the late singer at four stages in her career. The statues will go on display in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York and Washington, D.C.

Among the loved ones Houston left behind were her 19-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, her mother, Cissy Houston, and her sister-in-law and former manager, Pat Houston.

quicklist: 1title: Bobbi Kristina Browntext: In the year since Houston's death, her only daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, has been splashed across the headlines.

She scored a reality show on Lifetime, "The Houstons: On Our Own," and she kept people guessing about the status of her relationship with her adopted brother, Nick Gordon.

In October, they announced their "engagement" during a sneak peek of their reality show, but Brown's aunt, Pat Houston, told ABCNews.com that month that the pair have nothing more than a "very, very strong friendship. Very strong."

One month later, the pair put engagement rumors to rest with Gordon tweeting, "@REALbkBrown and I are not engaged or dating. Just close like we have always been." Today, the pair constantly tweet photos together but are mum about their relationship status.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Bobbi Kristina revealed she wants to follow in her mother's footsteps.

"We are going to do the singing thing, the acting thing, the dancing thing. It's a lot of pressure but she prepared me for it," she said.

quicklist: 2title: Cissy Houstontext: Houston's mother, Cissy Houston, wrote about all of the rumors that surrounded her daughter throughout her life in a new tell-all book. The memoir, "Remembering Whitney: My Story of Love, Loss and the Night the Music Stopped," is being released to coincide with the first anniversary of the singer's death.

Cissy Houston, an accomplished soul and gospel singer who has performed with the likes of Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin, didn't hold back in the book, which she said she wrote because after "all the rumors and stories that got told about [Whitney], I just want people to know what kind of person she really was."

In the book, Cissy Houston recalled that her son, Gary Houston, called hysterically the night of Whitney Houston's death, shouting, "they found her upstairs and I'm not going back up there!"

She also wrote about Houston's relationship with Bobby Brown, who was often blamed for introducing Houston to drugs. Cissy Houston said she disliked Brown from the moment the pair started dating, and often felt that he was childish, hot-tempered and jealous of his wife's success.

She wrote that she did not "blame Bobby for introducing Nippy [Whitney Houston's family nickname] to drugs or for the things that ended up happening to her. At the same time, I also don't believe he did much to help her. ... When it came to getting clean, he and Nippy never seemed to be in the same place at the same time, and that made the process much harder."

But not everyone in her family is happy about the memoir.

"ANYTHING concerning mygrandmothersBook•I& @nickdgordon OFCOURSE personally haveNOTHING2dowith• I ask youplsRESPECT tht•Haven't read&won't•" Bobbi Kristina tweeted Jan. 31.

"I find it 2B Disrespect2MYMOTHER & me being HERDAUGHTER won't tolerate it. I LOVEYOUALL for your support though & I thank you immensely••xO!" she added.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey last month, Cissy Houston said she speaks to Bobbi Kristina occasionally, but not often.

"I think she wants to be grown and she knows that I'm not going to tolerate it -- her saying and doing anything to me," Cissy Houston said. "I'm going to tell her the right thing that I think. I want her to do the right thing, and all I'm trying to do is guide her to the right place in her life."

quicklist: 3title: Pat Houstontext: Whitney Houston's sister-in-law and former manager, Pat Houston, has acted as a mother to Bobbi Kristina since Houston's death last year.

"Even when her parents were living, I was always Auntie Pat," Pat Houston told ABCNews.com in October. "Growing up with a lineage of women who have always looked after you and your nieces -- that's how I grew up. So I've always been there for her. It's a little different now because I really have to be present in her life. I can't just be Auntie Pat."

Pat Houston opened up to Oprah Winfrey last year, saying she knew the singer was in trouble at the "end of the '90s" but believes that Bobby Brown, Houston's ex-husband, wasn't necessairly the cause.

"I can't say that he introduced drugs to her," she said. "I don't think that's true."

She also didn't think that the star's problems in her final days involved substance abuse. Instead, she attributed Whitney Houston's downfall to a lifestyle change in which she saw the singer "chasing a dream ... looking for comfort, love ... and it was younger."

She said that Whitney Houston was chasing someone "that would ultimately hurt her."

quicklist: 4title: Bobby Browntext: Bobby Brown has had a tough year since the death of his ex-wife. One month after Houston died, the R&B star was arrested for driving under the influence.

In June, he married his manager, Alicia Etheridge, in Hawaii but less than eight weeks after their wedding Brown checked into rehab as part of a plea deal from his DUI. Less than a month later, he checked out.

His trouble didn't stop there. Last October, he was arrested for DUI again.

But Brown has kicked off 2013 in a positive way. The R&B singer played alongside Willi.i.am and Alicia Keys earlier this month for Will.i.am's TRANS4M benefit show, which benefits his charity i.am.angel foundation. On Saturday, Brown played at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, N.J.
