Whitney Houston's Mother Cissy Slams Upcoming Biopic
Cissy Houston isn't happy about the Lifetime biopic about her late daughter.
— -- Cissy Houston, 80, is not happy about Lifetime's upcoming biopic about her late daughter.
Whitney Houston's mother spoke to Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday and begged the network and anyone else listening to "please let her rest."
"Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family's objections," she told ET in a statement. "No one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby."
First Look at Yaya DaCosta as Whitney Houston
She continued, "In the two years since Whitney's death, many people have stepped forward to speak about their close relationship with her. I find it difficult to believe people who knew and supposedly loved her would participate in a movie about her done by folks who didn't know her. We are exhausted by the continuing misinformation and comments offered by people who did not know her. Please, please let her rest."
The new movie will feature Yaya DaCosta as Whitney Houston and will be directed by Angela Bassett.
Entertainment Weekly reported earlier this month that shooting for the film has begun and the movie will focus on the singer's relationship with Bobby Brown. Houston died in 2012 at 48 years old.
