August 3, 2006 — -- Great style runs in the family. It used to be that daughters were going through their mom's closets, but now more moms are ransacking their daughters' closets.

"Good Housekeeping" fashion sirector Aretha Busby offered tips on how mothers and daughters can wear similar styles and still stay "age appropriate."

CROPPED PANTS, STYLE & CO. $40

The best part about these cropped pants is the price; they're only $40! Plus, they're a great late summer/early fall transition piece.

Women of a certain age are worried about coverage, so we wanted to give some of that but still make it fun. We also gave mom a wrap sweater to give it some style.

We gave her a teal blue short sleeve crochet cardigan over a lace-trim tank, making the pants a bit more fun and playful. We're showing them with boots, but you can wear them with sling-backs as well.

COLLARLESS LEATHER JACKET, ALFANI $149

This jacket is the perfect piece to throw over a pair of pants or a dress to add some shine to your outfit.

It lends a bit more style than a traditional blazer. You can also dress up your outfit nicely because it has some shine. It's not your typical boxy leather jacket so it makes it more flattering and versatile.

We gave her a flirty red dress paired with high chocolate boots. Her look is a bit more daring and a bit more sexy.

Brown Leather Collarless Jacket, Alfani, $149

Red Print Faux-Wrap Front Dress, London Times $99

Dark Brown Knee High Boot, Alfani $119

Necklace, Sigrid Olsen $44
