July 4, 2006— -- Alicia Ross, co-author of "Cheap, Fast, Good," says it's possible to make delicious dishes for Fourth of July cookouts that cost less than a dollar per serving. She came to "Good Morning America" to share some of her favorite recipes.

Great Grilled Chicken Kebabs

8 Servings (1/3 pound chicken per person)

In a small bowl mix together the oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and black pepper. Set aside.

Cut the chicken breast halves into 1-inch cubes. Thread 4 to 5 pieces of the chicken on each wooden skewer. Place the skewered chicken in a shallow oblong dish in a layer no more than 2 deep. Pour the reserved marinade over them. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes or up to 8 hours.

When you're ready to grill the chicken, turn on a gas grill to medium-high.

Place the skewers of chicken on the hot grill and grill for 6 to 10 minutes, turning frequently, on an uncovered grill. Serve immediately.
