June 9, 2006 — -- He's got the No. 1 country song in the nation, "Summertime," and on Friday Kenny Chesney heated up "Good Morning America" by singing a tune named after his favorite time of year.

"I love it," said Chesney, who lives in St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. "That's when we get to do what we do. I've tried to stamp out winter my whole life."

Chesney said his favorite summer memory growing up in Tennessee was just hanging out with friends.

"I played a lot of sports, went to the lake a lot, went to the beach a lot," Chesney said. "When I look out and see all these kids, I think about how when we were in school and you couldn't wait [for summer]."

The biggest crowd of "Good Morning America's" 2006 Summer Concert Series to date showed up at New York City's Bryant Park. Kim Bloom, a resident of Allentown, Pa., who was not in attendance, e-mailed Chesney a question. She asked which family member has been most influential on his life and career.

"All of them have in one way or another, but my mom means a whole lot to me, there's no doubt about it," Chesney said. "She has been through a lot in her life and come though with a lot of grace and style."

Chesney is currently on the second leg of his "The Road and the Radio" tour, which began in March. He has a live album due out on Sept. 19.
