July 11, 2011 — -- Here are a few common causes of back pain.

As we age, our back durability decreases and the discs in the vertebrae begin to lose fluid. Thus, there is less padding for the spine and while the decrease in flexibility and strength won't cause pain immediately lifting something too heavy or overstretching the back will cause the already weakened back to feel pain. This pain comes from additional pressure put on the nerves in the back.

If you are feeling lower back pain, it may be due to a disorder and arthritis and osteoporosis are two of the more common conditions.

Several lifestyle choices also can lead to lower back pain. These include unhealthy living, improper posture or sleeping positions, and pregnancy.

Injuries to the back usually cause lower back pain and make the back more prone for future back pain and injuries
