Judging Procedure, Notification and Semi-Finalists Judging:
Eligible entries will be judged on the basis of potential for on-air appeal, compelling nature of the trick and overall readability of essay. Decisions of the judges are final as to all contest-related matters. Six semi-finalists will be selected.
In the event of a tie, entrants with the highest scores in the compelling nature of the trick category will be declared the semi-finalists. In the event that any of the semi-finalists or their dogs is deemed ineligible, fails to comply with Contest procedures, or is not available to participate as specified, then the first runner-up will be selected to participate, time permitting.
Potential semi-finalists will be notified on or about June 16, 2013.
On June 17, 18 and 19, 2013, videos and/or photos of two different semi-finalists dogs performing their tricks will be aired each day on "Good Morning America". Viewers will be asked to vote for their favorite of the two dogs from each day. Voting is available on GoodMorningAmerica.com. Voting will run through 3 pm ET each day. The dog with the most votes from each day's face-off ("Finalist") will be announced the following day on "Good Morning America".
On June 20, 2013, "Good Morning America" will broadcast a recap of the three finalists and invite viewers to vote for their favorite dog on GoodMorningAmerica.com between 9 am ET on June 20, 2013 and 8:30 am ET on June 21, 2013.
The three finalists and their entrants will be on "Good Morning America" on June 21, 2013, at which time the winner of the Dog vs. Dog contest will be announced.
The owner of the dog which receives the top vote on each of those three days is considered a finalist. The three finalists and their dogs will be asked to travel to New York City for the live finale on Good Morning America on Friday, June 21, 2013. The prize consists of roundtrip air travel for the owner and dog between a major airport closest to the finalist's home and a New York City area airport, roundtrip ground transportation between the New York City area airport and the New York City hotel, and one night's accommodation for the owner and dog in a New York City hotel.
