— -- Three-time Oscar nominee Joan Allen is getting settled in her role in the new show, "The Family."

The actress appeared on “Good Morning America” today to discuss the ABC drama and even gave a nod to her “Room” co-star Brie Larson, who won an the Best Actress Oscar.

“I was so thrilled,” Allen told “GMA” co-anchor Amy Robach. “She did such an incredible…amazing job and she was so gracious to everybody and on the red carpet she was beautiful and I thought she so deserved it.”

In "The Family," Allen plays the mother of a boy who reappears after having gone missing for 10 years--a role she landed immediately after starring as Larson’s mother in “Room.”

“It was a complete coincidence,” Allen said. “I was flabbergasted when I finished 'Room' and a month later, I got the script for ‘The Family.’ I was like, ‘What is this? This is crazy.”
