— -- Ann Pleshette Murphy has been the parenting contributor for "Good Morning America" since November 1998, and her American Family segments are a recurring feature on "GMA." In 2002, two of her segments received media awards from the National Council on Family Relations, and a segment on teens received an award from Mothers Against Drunk Driving in 2003.

In addition to "GMA," Ann hosts "Parenting Perspectives," tackling key challenges parents face today, on ABC News Now.

Murphy is the author of "The 7 Stages of Motherhood: Loving Your Life Without Losing Your Mind" (Alfred A. Knopf, Inc.), and travels the country speaking to mothers' groups about themes from the book such as striking a balance between work and family, wrestling with guilt and setting loving limits.

Currently, Ann's "ParentSmart" column appears regularly in USAWeekend Magazine. She is also an AOL Parenting Coach and a Healthination.com parenting expert.

She was editor-in-chief of Parents magazine from 1988 to 1998 and a contributing editor from 1998 to 2002. During her 10-year tenure at Parents, Murphy edited several ancillary publications, including Parents Expecting, Parents Baby and Target the Family. She also helped launch a book-publishing program, overseeing the highly successful book "It Worked for Me," and editing "The Parents Answer Book," an 800-page reference guide on children's health and development. Before joining Parents, Murphy was the editor of Good Food, executive editor of Diversion Magazine and senior editor of Redbook. She also wrote a monthly "Mom Know-How" column for Family Circle from 2002 until 2005.

Murphy is a cum laude graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in psychology, and in 1990 she was named one of the YMCA's Academy of Women Achievers. She chairs the board of the Greyston Family Inn, which provides housing, social services and child care for formerly homeless families. She also serves on the board of Zero to Three, the leading national organization dedicated to promoted the well-being of infants and toddlers.
