Tiffany Tehan: Runaway Mother or Victim?
Police discovered Tiffany Tehan had been seen with Tre Hutcherson before.
April 21, 2010— -- The discovery that missing Ohio mother Tiffany Tehan has been spotted several times in the last few weeks with a strange man case has raised police suspicions that she could possibly be a runaway.
Police have named Tre B. Hutcherson of Dayton, Ohio, as a person of interest. Police say a store surveillance video shows Hutcherson and Tehan together about two weeks before her disappearance. Detectives said the two were spotted together in a convenience store several times.
The discovery has raised questions about whether she is truly in danger.
Her husband David Tehan said he was shocked by the photos and he doesn't know the man seen with his wife.
"I've never seen him, heard his name," he told "Good Morning America" as the couple's 1-year-old daughter slept in his lap. "I have no idea what's going on in those photos or anything about the situation."
Tehan disappeared Saturday after leaving on a shopping trip to buy baby clothes.
The couple hadn't been having marital problems, the husband said, and were excited about plans for the weekend and upcoming week.
"It just seems so completely out of character. I just can't understand or believe it," he said. "It's terrifying to imagine the different possibilities, but I don't know."
Xenia Police Department Capt. Scott Anger said today that they were able to identify Hutcherson through a tip.
"At this point we're exploring this case from all perspectives," he said. "Obviously, this is our best lead yet."
Police have been monitoring the duo's credit and ATM cards, but there has been nothing to yield significant clues. They are hoping, Anger said, that Hutcherson will eventually be able to lead police to Tehan.
The Dayton Daily News reported that a woman who answered the door at Hutcherson's home identified herself as his wife and said he took $2,000 from their bank account before disappearing.
"Obviously they are together," she told the newspaper. "(Hutcherson) wouldn't hurt Tiffany."
