This as an official investigation is now launched looking into exactly what led to the death of the comedic legend. Exactly one week after being rushed to a Manhattan hospital, Joan rivers passed away. Her only child, daughter Melissa saying "She passed peacefully surrounded by family and close friends." Adding "My mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that's difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon." Rivers suffered a ed cardiac arrest during an outpatient procedure at this Manhattan clinic last Thursday.
