This kind of footwear could be more damaging than you think. Oh! Reporter: Trips and false. And worse. Funny flip-flop fails are all over youtube. Experts say, it's no laughing matter. Are flip-flops dangerous to wear? They certainly can be. Reporter: This podiatrist says flip-flops can cause injuries. You're exposed. People can step on your toes. Drop something on your toes. Reporter: Trip. People would say they're so comfortable. They are. They're comfortable, but for a short period of time. When you break your toe, they're not so comfortable. Reporter: He says arch and heel pain are common as well. Look at the x-ray. This one is wearing a flimsy flip-flop. Nothing supportive. Nothing holding it up. Reporter: Without the extra support in the arch, what can happen? You can have arch pain. Heel pain. The lack of support can create muscle fatigue in the lower part of the leg. That can work its way up to the knee and low back. Reporter: If you're still flipping for your flops. Experts say never wear them while you drive or walk upstair.
