He has played the iconic fiction nal characters han solo and indiana jones. In the movie, "42" he plays branch rickey, the brooklyn dodgers manager who changed the face of baseball by recruiting jackie robinson. Welcome. Great to have you here. Thank you. I watched it with my 10-year-old baseball-playing son who is studying civil rights. Good. In the movie, you bring to life how difficult this decision was for jackie and for branch, whose idea it was to say, we're going to do this. We're going the hire a black baseball player in the major leagues. I'm going to hire. All the other owners were dead set against it. It was a very unpopular choice when he made it. But, you know, it's interesting. Talking about your son studying civil rights history, and jackie robinson is really -- you know, sort of a footnote in that history. But it really, what happened in baseball really underpinned and supported what happened with the civil rights movement. When you see -- much later. When you talk about the other teams, there were other teams that refused to play the brooklyn dodgers because -- s saying that if jackie is on the field, we won't play. He got heckled by fans and other managers. We have a clip where you're trying to convince him that he's got the stay cool, cant lose the cool. It's a big mission. Your enemy will be out in force. You cannot meet him on his own low ground. We will -- focus on hitting, running, fielding. We win if the world is convinced of two things. Gnat you are a fine gentleman and a great baseball player. And he did convince them, It was really hard. There's one scene in the tunnel where he has to leave the field, jackie does, after it was so bad, and you go down meet him in the tunnel and convince him, you've got get back out there. Well, he endured a lot. One of the things that you don't get from the books or, the brief bit of history which concerns -- which is being taught in schools, is what it felt like to go through what he went through. He endured, you know, e excruciating personal pain. Threats against his wife and baby son. It is such a short period of time ago, we have to be reminded what it took to gain what we gained. Maybe young people will feel encouraged to do -- do more of -- of the work that was started then. In the meantime, the first time you have played a real-life character. You look like you have two furry animals over each of your eyes. The eyebrows for branch. That's what he looked like. Your lovely to embrace the role as fully. I have a confession to make. You were my very first movie crush. Uh-oh, yeah? In the movie, "witness" when you did the scene where you were DANCING WITH kelly McGillis to the sam cooke sound up in the barn. An article came out a few years ago when people were asked to name their sexiest scene in the movie, that was my pick. Thank you very much. Am I making you embarrassed? A little bit. We're hoping to see you in squt star wars." Will you be great in gnat again? I'll be average. I don't know if I'll be invited to the party. And with j.K. Abrams, who you worked with before. I admire him. I did his first movie, "regarding henry" with mike nic nichols. Good to have you here. The movie is "42." It's a wonderful movie. Take your kids. Thank you so much, harrison.
